Each month, Pope Francis puts forward a prayer intention and asks Catholics around the world to join him in prayer. These monthly prayer intentions reflect the concerns of the Holy Father for the humanity and the sacred mission of the Catholic Church.
For the month of January, we invite you to join us in prayer for the gift of diversity in the Church.

Hi, my name is Arnie Hurdoyal. I am a project officer for Adult Formation at Evangelisation Brisbane. In January, the Pope’s prayer intention is for the gift of diversity in the church. Today, we will pray that we will recognise the gift of different charisms within the Christian community. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Almighty God,
thank you that diversity is an expression of your profound love for your creation,
and that in the midst of this richness of differences,
you unite us.
It is your Spirit which enables us
to go out to encounter others,
to listen to them and help them,
and to be the face of Christ.
Your Holy Spirit gives us life
and brings forth the charisms
which enrich the people of God,
so that we may be one body,
the body of Christ.
By these charisms, You enable us
to make a real contribution to the lives of others,
in the Church and in our communities.
Help us to recognise and joyfully experience
the gift of the different charisms
to be used for the benefit of others.
Holy Spirit,
thank you that we have all received
a share of your gifts.
Through these, we pray that the people of God
may we become a new creation
and live no longer for ourselves
but for Him who died and rose for us.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
