Pope Francis’ Monthly Prayer Intention – July 2024
God’s people Pope Francis’ Monthly Prayer Intention – July 2024

Each month, Pope Francis puts forward a prayer intention and asks Catholics around the world to join him in prayer. These monthly prayer intentions reflect the concerns of the Holy Father for the humanity and the sacred mission of the Catholic Church.

In July, Pope Francis is focusing on praying for the pastoral care of the sick. Let’s join Fr Wrex Woolnough, a retired priest from Caloundra Catholic Parish and St Ignatius Catholic Parish Toowong, in lifting up all those in our communities who are sick and in need of God’s love and strength. May God bless the pastoral workers with the grace of the Holy Spirit as they have turned homes, nursing homes, and hospitals into places of blessing and love.

Pope Francis’ Monthly Prayer Intention – July 2024 – Transcript

Hello, my name is Fr Wrex. This month, Pope Francis asks us to pray for the pastoral care of the sick. Please join with me today as we pray for all those in our communities who are sick and in need of God’s love and strength.

Blessed are You, O God, our Father.
Through the example of Your Son,
You challenge Your people who walk in newness of life to care compassionately for the sick.
Listen to the prayers of Your people gathered here in a spirit of thanksgiving.
Bless our pastoral workers with the grace of your Holy Spirit,
as we give thanks for the years they have given in service
through their pastoral concern for the sick and their carers.
As they have helped make our homes, our nursing homes and our hospitals
places of blessing and centres of love, so pour out your blessings and love on them this day.
May the support they have given both to patients,
families and staff continue to bear fruit through the years ahead,
so that the Spirit with which they have served
and the spirit they have created in those homes and hospitals
may continue to grow and endure for years to come.
May they move forward knowing the gratitude of those whose lives they have touched
and be proud of the legacy they leave behind.
This day we ask your blessing upon them.

We ask Your blessing,

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
