The world is looking for people with true wisdom, like king Solomon. The Wisdom that the bible speaks is not of a uni degree. It is the gift of the Holy Spirit, that leads a person in life and action. The example is a night time wedding where everything seems to go wrong. The bridegroom shows up so late that the bridal party falls asleep and finally half the bridesmaids been shut out from the wedding banquet. It is a strange ending to what should have been a most joyful occasion. One of the most interesting fact about this story is how similar the ten virgins appear. All had been invited and responded positively. All of them had their lamps with some oil in them. All fell asleep and were awakened to prepare their lamps. All were in the right place at the right time for the right reason. Half of them are praised as wise and the rest as foolish. They are never called sinners. But between them and the wise virgins, there is little to choose. Outwardly, they are all the same. They did everything right but they were not ready for the delay.
Today the door of salvation is wide open in Christ. Anyone, anywhere, anytime can go in that door and find true freedom and eternal life. A life strengthened by the Sacraments and celebrated in actions of charity, may appear challenging, but these are the moments we fill our lamps with oil, that will last forever.
