The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Officer's initial focus will be to raise awareness of, and support the engagement of Parishioners and Clergy, in the implementation of the Archdiocesan Reconciliation Action Plan, through effective communication, coordination and administration of RAP activity initially across 6 Parishes.
Specific responsibilities of this role include:
Promoting and implementing the Reconciliation Action Plan,
Ensuring Parishes are supported to engage in the planning process,
Upholding a positive culture of Reconciliation across the Archdiocese,
Fostering strong relationships with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples,
Consulting with Traditional Owner's to develop tools and resources for Parishes, and
Assisting the relevant Archdiocesan HR departments in developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness.
The successful applicant will have:
High level communication and interpersonal skills,
A strong understanding and working background with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities,
Initiative and self-motivation,
Computer literacy of a high standard,
Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills, and
Significant experience in, knowledge of and commitment to the Roman Catholic Church.

Initially, the RAP Officer will be working on a 12 month, fixed term contract offering 15 flexible hours per week. The position will be remunerated under the Archdiocesan Salary Scale with a starting base salary of $36.80 per hour.
