A Prayer for Education
God’s people Let’s Pray A Prayer for Education

Catholic schools, like St John Fisher College, embody Christ’s message through compassionate service and transformative education. Rooted in Catherine McAuley’s mercy in action approach, St John Fisher College strives to be beacons of hope and wisdom. As the new academic year begins, we join Julie and Emily in prayer, asking that these schools nurture young minds to encounter the living Christ, fostering courage, understanding, and deep faith. May our Catholic learning communities inspire students to become missionary disciples, transforming the world through love and grace.

Hi, I’m Emily Sweeney, Assistant Principal – Formation and Identity at St John Fisher College. And I’m Julie McCoy, Campus Minister here at St John Fisher College. The spirit and legacy of Catherine McAuley’s story continues to resonate in the hearts of like minded women and men across the Archdiocese. Here at St John Fisher College, we strive to live out the values of Catherine and the Sisters of Mercy who tied on their boots and focused on a mercy in action approach. As we start a new year of education and learning, we look to her and the Mercy tradition to kindle our spirit within. We encourage all students and staff across the Archdiocese to tie up their boots and prepare themselves for a wonderful year of learning.

And so we pray today, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Merciful God, encourage us as we are called to continue Catherine’s vision and the mission of Jesus in the twenty-first century. Teach us to respond to the call and the needs of our communities as we walk on the same path Jesus trod. Help us to listen with our hearts as well as our ears and may our hands reach out to be of God’s work. Bless us with a merciful response to our educational communities as they awaken the courage within all of us to address the ever-changing challenges and embrace the joy within our schools. May we be instruments of your peace. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
