Today, we joyfully celebrate the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. This feast is especially meaningful in Queensland, as it marks the ordination anniversaries of many of our beloved priests. We invite you to join us in prayer with Fr Neil, giving heartfelt thanks for the gift of the priesthood and for all those priests commemorating their anniversaries today. Through the intercession of Saints Peter and Paul, may our shepherds be strengthened in their ministry, and may many more men be inspired to respond generously to God’s call to serve His Church. The month of June for the province of Queensland is one where we remember many ordination anniversaries, as well as those who are being ordained around the 29th of June, in particular the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul priests are ordained and celebrate their anniversaries. Please join with me now in praying in thanksgiving for the gift of our priests.
Gracious and loving God, we thank You for the gift of our priests and with them we ask that we experience Your presence in the Word and Sacraments they lead us in. Help our priests to be strong, joyful in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with a love for serving Your holy people, and grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus the High Priest. Amen.
