Hello, I’m Fr Peter Dillon, the Vicar General of the Brisbane Archdiocese. And I’d like you to join me as we pray a prayer of welcome for our new Archbishop, Shane Mackinlay.

Heavenly Father, source of all wisdom and shepherd of Your people, we pray with hearts full of gratitude and hope as we welcome our new Archbishop Shane into this portion of Your vineyard. Lord, You have called him to serve as a shepherd after Your own heart, to guide, to teach, and to love. To love Your people with humility and courage. So bless him with the grace of discernment, the strength of faith, and the gentleness of Christ, the Good Shepherd. May his leadership be a beacon of unity, drawing us closer to You and to one another. May he be a faithful steward of Your Word, a tireless servant of justice and peace, and a compassionate father to all entrusted to his care. We also pray for our Archbishop Shane’s health, his joy in ministry, and the support of the Holy Spirit in every decision he makes. May Mary, the Mother of the Church, wrap him in her mantle of love and intercede for him always. Together, as one Body in Christ, we welcome him with open hearts and joyful spirits, ready to walk with him in faith, as we continue the mission of proclaiming Your Kingdom. And we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
