The Archdiocese of Brisbane rejoices tonight, on this Solemnity of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, as it ordains Deacon Lucius Edomobi
to the presbyterate.

Archbishop Mark Coleridge will be the ordaining Bishop at tonight’s Mass at the Cathedral of St Stephen, starting at 7.30pm.

Lucius Chizoba Edomobi was born in Ehime Mbano LGA, Imo State, Nigeria, on 10th May 1979. He is the youngest son of Chief Sir Lazarus & Lady Angelina Edomobi.  Being the youngest son of the family of eight, (four boys and four girls) he was educated in Imo and Enugu States both in Nigeria.

Lucius started his seminary formation in 2003 at Bigard Memorial Seminary in Nigeria from where he obtained a double degree in philosophy from the Pontifical Urban University Rome, and the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2006. After teaching in the minor seminary for two years, he went back to complete his first year of theological studies in Seat of Wisdom Seminary Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria in 2009. He has also undertaken some studies in mass communications in Nigeria.

Following the request from Archbishop Bathersby to Bishop Lucius Ugorji of Umuahia Diocese, Nigeria, Lucius arrived in Brisbane in August 2010, to continue his seminary formation in Australia as a seminarian of the Archdiocese of Brisbane. In November 2011, Lucius completed his Bachelor of Theology from the Australian Catholic University Brisbane Campus.

On 15th June 2012, (the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus), Lucius was ordained a Deacon by Most Rev. Brian V. Finnigan, Auxiliary Bishop, Archdiocese of Brisbane, at the Holy Spirit Seminary Chapel Banyo, Brisbane.

Presently, Lucius is completing his pastoral Internship/appointment at St Agatha’s Parish Clayfield under the tutelage of Reverend Dr. Adrian Farrelly. He will be taking up a new appointment in January 2013 at Burleigh Heads Parish as associate pastor.

Let us continue to keep him in our prayers.
