After ten years as Rector of St Leo’s College within the University of Queensland, Brother Vince Skelly cfc has decided not to seek reappointment at the end of his second term on 31 December 2013.
On behalf of the Bishops of Queensland, Archbishop Mark Coleridge acknowledged the great work that Brother Vince has done at St Leo’s since the Christian Brothers accepted the Bishops’ invitation to assume responsibility for the College and appointed him as Rector. In the meantime, Brother Vince has worked hard to ensure that the College plays its part in the wider mission of the Church.
Academically and culturally too, Brother Vince leaves the College much stronger. He has also overseen the building of the new M Block which provided a substantial increase in accommodation. Notable as well has been increased involvement by students in social welfare projects, including immersion trips to India.
The College Council Chair, Adjunct Professor Joan Sheldon AM, joined in paying tribute to Brother Vince’s significant contribution to the College through the years. She commented on the excellent reputation of the College now at the University and in the community at large.
The Bishops of Queensland join the College Council in thanking Brother Vince for all that he has accomplished and wishing him well in the years ahead.
The Bishops are now working with the Council to initiate a process for the recruitment and appointment of a new Rector.
