The Queensland government has issued a mandatory lockdown for the Greater Brisbane Region effective 6PM Friday 8th January to 6PM Monday 11th January. The Greater Brisbane Region includes the Local Council areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands and Logan.

Current advice for people inside this area is that people may only leave their house for these reasons:
• Shopping for essentials, food and necessary supplies
• Medical or healthcare needs, including compassionate requirements
• Exercise with no more than one other person, unless all from the same household
• Providing care or assistance to an immediate family member
• Work, or volunteering, or study if it is not reasonably practicable to work or learn remotely
• Child custody arrangements
• Legal obligations
• Visit for end of life
• Attend funeral (20 guests maximum) or wedding (10 guests maximum)

Additionally:
• Masks must be worn outside your residence, including in the work place
• Anyone who has visited, and left, the Greater Brisbane region since the 2nd of January must isolate for three days

Information for parishes and parishioners:
• No public Masses are to be held during this time in the Greater Brisbane Region (the Local Council areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands and Logan)
• Priests should celebrate a Mass pro popolo within their Parish however it is advised that this should happen without assistant ministers
• Funerals will be restricted to 20 guests and weddings restricted to 10 guests, which includes the presider.
• All attendees of funerals or weddings must wear a mask, including the presider
• All livestream Masses in the Greater Brisbane area will cease during this time, with the exception of the webcast from the Cathedral of St Stephen. Please consider notifying your parishioners through email or social media that the Cathedral Mass will be livestreamed on Saturday at 11:30AM, Sunday at 8AM and 10AM, and Monday at 8AM and can be found on https://brisbanecatholic.org.au/multimedia/web-cast/
• Parish offices will be closed from 6PM Friday 8th January through 6PM Monday 11th January
