Leading Australian artist and Associate Professor Lindsay Farrell will deliver a free public lecture on JUST ART projects on Thursday 16 October at 6pm at the Francis Rush Centre in St Stephen’s Cathedral Precinct, Brisbane.
Associate Professor Lindsay Farrell will talk about five places where Just Art projects have served as an inclusive force in the community.
“For many, failure to share in the prosperity of our nation is not simply a lack of material goods but also includes the lack of access to economic, social and cultural capital of our society.
“From Just Art partnerships in hospitals, prisons, refugee projects, homeless and school communities- art has been an active agent in advancing social justice,” Associate Professor Farrell said.
A former Smithsonian Scholar in Washington DC, Farrell a current Australian Catholic University academic has an interesting story to tell with the free lecture open to everyone.
Associate Professor Lindsay Farrell has a PhD from Griffith University.
His work involves practice, teaching and research in visual art.
It engages the social, ethical and religious dimensions of life and includes collaborative projects with the Queensland Art Gallery and art in health.
In 2012 he was a Smithsonian Scholar in Washington DC. He has an Australian Teaching and Learning Citation and the ACU award for Excellence in Community Engagement.
