This month, Pope Francis invites us to pray for broken families, that they may find healing through forgiveness. May families become beacons of Christ’s mercy and peace. Let’s join Teena in praying for this intention and also pray for our Holy Father.

Hello, I am Teena Ingram, General Manager for Specialist Family and Support services with Centacare. I am joining you today to share our Pope’s Prayer Intention for March, Families in Crisis. The Pope has said, “Let us pray that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other’s gifts, even in their difference.” We keep Pope Francis in our prayers. Supporting families to heal and move forwards is an integral part of what our family support services do. There is much need in the world for forgiveness, tolerance and peace, particularly for broken families. Family should be safe, nurturing and loving. Family is what sets us on our path in this world. They are our foundation in formative years and support us as we mature and find our own ways. But for some, there is a shattering that feels insurmountable, often with blame, anger, hurt and fear. Many things can lead to families reaching points of crisis, and with God’s grace, our work can help them find healing. Let’s pray for families in crisis. Let us pray that they find peace, forgiveness and acceptance. That their wounds can start to heal, that they are able to see past the pain, bitterness and anger; and to love despite overwhelming pain and grief. Amen.
