Our Holy Father invites us to embrace the coming Jubilee Year as an opportunity to deepen our faith. He encourages us to recognise the Risen Christ in our everyday lives and to allow this experience to transform us into pilgrims of Christian hope. Join Vanessa for a time of prayer, where we can uplift each other and strengthen our community in faith.

Hi, my name is Vanessa Comninos, a project officer in the adult formation team of the Archdiocese of Brisbane. The coming Jubilee Year is an opportunity to renew and deepen our commitment to faith. But, it’s also a call to actively live out our faith with hope and purpose. To be a pilgrim of hope is to live with a faith that looks beyond our current struggles and finds God’s promise in each moment, no matter how small. This hope calls us to see the Risen Christ in the ordinary. The warmth of a smile, the strength shared between friends in difficult times, and the quiet moments of reflection that nourish our spirit. It’s a journey that transforms us, allowing us to find the light in the midst of darkness. Through this lens, hope becomes more than a feeling; it’s an active choice to walk in faith, embracing each day as an opportunity to encounter God and to be His hands and feet in the world.

In choosing hope, we open up ourselves to see our lives and the lives of others as reflections of God’s enduring love and presence. December’s prayer intention invites us to reflect on how our faith can genuinely inspire hope in others. Sometimes, it’s as simple as reaching out with a kind word to someone feeling down, sitting quietly with someone who needs to be heard, or offering a small act of help when it is needed. Each of these small gestures becomes a way to share hope and let others feel Christ’s love through us. As pilgrims on this journey, we don’t walk alone; we travel together, finding strength and warmth in each other. May this Jubilee Year deepen our commitment to bring hope to the world! Today we offer this prayer, acknowledging the hope to which we have all been called. Let us pray.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Loving Father, we thank you for the gift of the Jubilee Year, inspiring us to be people of hope who do life and faith together. May we recognise the moments we are called to be Your hope to others and may we too, in times of despair, turn to you for comfort and healing. We ask for Your blessing upon each of us as we begin the pilgrimage of the heart. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
