Each month, our Holy Father entrusts the Church with a special intention of prayer. This September, Our Lady Of Dolours Primary School Mitchelton principal, Trish, joins us, along with the school therapy dog, Winnie, to offer a prayer for all of creation. We invite you to unite with us in asking God to deepen our care and respect for all creation, so that we may faithfully tend the earth as stewards of God’s gift.

Hello, my name is Trish Howard and I am the Principal of Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary School in Mitchelton. With me today is our school therapy dog, Winnie! We are here today to pray with you Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV’s prayer intention for the month of September which is ‘our relationship with all of creation’. Pope Francis said, let us pray, that inspired by Saint Francis, we might experience our interdependence with all creatures that are loved by God and worthy of love and respect. In this spirit, please join me in prayer. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Loving and gracious God, You made this world with beauty and purpose. Every tree, river, and bird, and creature shows Your love. You made us to live in peace with all of creation and to care for the earth and for each other. But we have not always listened. We have hurt the planet, wasted gifts and forgotten that we are part of one family, human and all living things. In this Season of Creation, help us see the earth as a holy gift and to treasure our relationships with all of creation. Teach us to live simply, and to protect our fragile world and work together for a better future. May we hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor and respond with courage. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who walks with us always. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
