Music lovers of the Brisbane Archdiocese have their best chance to enjoy local, national and international talent at affordable prices when the 2003 St Stephen’s Concert Series kicks off on March 30th.
The seven concerts, all held in the acoustically superb St Stephen’s Cathedral, offer a mix of chorale, chamber music and string and pipe arrangements.
At just $75 for the full season subscription, it costs less than the retail price of three standard CD’s and offers infinitely longer and more vibrant listening pleasure.
Cathedral Director of Music at St Stephen’s, Dr Ralph Morton, said the public would be impressed by the program’s variety and the performers involved.
“The scheduler’s have very carefully designed the series to appeal to people of varying ages and musical tastes, not just the seasoned concertgoer,” Dr Morton said.
“When people of the calibre of Richard Divall, one of Australia’s finest conductors, or the accomplished tenor Gregory Massingham are involved, the audience is assured of witnessing something very special,” he said.
The season runs from March through to November 2003. All seating is unreserved and single admission tickets may be purchased at the door for $15 / $10 concession.
The Concerts’ Committee also invites patrons to become Individual or Corporate sponsors. Individuals may donate at three levels: Motet ($25), Cantata ($50) or Oratorio ($75). St Stephen’s Cathedral is situated in the centre of Brisbane and was opened in 1874. Some limited parking is available in the cathedral carpark. Wheelchair access is available.
