Third Sunday of Lent

Transcript

The story of the call of Moses offers a vivid symbolic picture of divine revelation. In the first place there is a call for reflection in the fact that we have been spontaneously and traditionally used as symbolic of unending fire, a fire that burns without consuming. The question it raises, of course, is whether we hear ourselves called by name, whether we are able to take our shoes off in reverence knowing that we stand on holy ground because it is the whole world, which is the place of God. It raises question also, in a very practical way, whether we realise that God we worship is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, whose promises and demands are quite practical and guarantee, concerning all aspects of human lives and human society in relationship and structures. Sisters and brothers, God reveals himself to us and calls us to carry out His purpose in our world today, just like when He reveal himself to Moses to liberate the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. This Lent is the time to repent, and change our direction. This time is a time to grow. The bush is still burning and unconsumed.
