The Most Reverend Mark Coleridge will be installed as the sixth Archbishop of Brisbane during a Solemn Mass and Liturgical Reception to be held at the Cathedral of St Stephen today.

Over 900 invited guests including the Governor, Penelope Wensley, the new Premier, Campbell Newman and the Chief Justice, Paul de Jersey will welcome him as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Brisbane.

The Papal Nuncio, the Most Rev Giuseppe Lazzarotto, and over 35 of Archbishop Coleridge’s brother bishops from around Australia will also be present.

The Solemn Mass and Liturgical Reception will be webcast from approximately 10.15am AEST at www.bne.catholic.net.au/coleridgeinstallation

Speaking in the latest edition of The Catholic Leader, Archbishop Coleridge had a simple message for the people of the archdiocese.

“I will devote the best of my energies to the task,” he said.

“I would ask the community to pray for me and I will in turn pray for the community in a communion of prayer.”
