Domestic and family violence

Together we can prevent domestic and family violence

Domestic and family violence
God’s work Domestic and family violence

Across our parishes, ministries, schools and community agencies, the Archdiocese of Brisbane continues God’s Work by caring for those who are vulnerable, promoting justice, and fostering communities where every person is respected and safe.

Domestic and family violence remains a hidden and devastating reality for many. We believe in the importance of listening to victim-survivors, understanding the complexity of their experiences and breaking the silence that surrounds this injustice. Our community has consistently affirmed the need to shine a light on violence, to walk alongside those who have experienced harm as they rebuild their lives and work collaboratively for change.

This year, our theme – Together we can – reminds us that prevention is shared work. Everyone who is part of our Archdiocese community has a role: in how we listen, how we speak up, how we support one another, and how we build communities where respect, safety and dignity guide our relationships.

Explore, learn and take action

Learn to recognise the signs, challenge harmful attitudes and access tools and resources that support safe and respectful relationships. Whether it’s starting a conversation, supporting someone in need or engaging with local initiatives, every action – big or small – helps build a community where all people can live free from violence.
