Catholic Archbishop Mark Coleridge will ordain two new priests for the Brisbane Archdiocese this evening.
The candidates for the priesthood, Leonard Ihemelandu Uzueba and Martin Phillip Larsen, have both enjoyed different paths in life before embarking on their vocations.
Leonard Uzuebu was born in Nigeria where he has previously worked as a Catechist, Sacristan and Youth Leader. Since moving to Australia in 2011, he has done his pastoral placement at St Stephen’s Cathedral Brisbane and continued his diaconal ministry at Hendra/Northgate Parish from June 2013. In April 2014, he was appointed to the Cathedral parish.
Martin Larsen was born one of triplets in Bundaberg. Graduating from Nudgee College Brisbane, he worked in a variety of professions before returning to the seminary after initially entering into formation in 1996-1998. In 2013 Martin completed his pastoral placement at the parish of Redcliffe. Since January 2014, he has served as a deacon in the Caloundra Parish under the care of Fr Kevin Smith.
The ordination Mass starts at 7.00pm in the Cathedral of St Stephen’s.
