Complaints can be made about any Archdiocesan parish, ministry, service or agency and the conduct of Archdiocesan workers including priests, teachers, carers, employees, contractors and volunteers.
It’s okay to complain.
Complaints assist the Archdiocese in addressing undesirable behaviour and misconduct by workers, better recognise the needs and expectations of parishioners, clients and the community, and improve our ministries and services.
How to make a complaint.
A complaint can be made to any Archdiocesan worker. Workers are expected to respectfully listen to and act on complaints.
Complaints related to parish or ministry activities or workers should be addressed to the manager or presiding priest.
Serious misconduct by an Archdiocesan worker should be reported to the Office of Legal, Governance & Risk, or via the STOPline. STOPline is an independent reporting and whistle-blower service.
Safeguarding-related concerns or abuse incidents should be reported to the Office for Safeguarding.
Complaints can be made anonymously.
How complaints are managed.
After a complaint is lodged, an initial assessment will be made, and the complaint will be referred to the appropriate office or agency for investigation.
The investigation may involve the person assigned to manage the complaint contacting the complainant, seeking additional information, and clarifying what outcomes are sought to resolve the complaint.
After the investigation has been completed, the complainant will be advised of the findings and the outcomes.
