The National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Hutton OAM to the position of Coordinator for Faith Formation and Religious Education Programs.
The establishment of this half time position was an outcome of the recent review of the NCEC and aims to promote greater collaboration across Catholic education in the areas of faith formation and religious education. This appointment follows national advertising and an interview process involving representatives of the NCEC and Catholic educators working in the areas of religious education and Catholic identity.
David holds bachelor degrees in commerce, education and theology, and a Masters in Educational Administration.
He has worked in the areas of Religious Education and Administrative Services within the Brisbane Catholic Education Office. From 1998 to 2013, David held the position of Executive Director of Catholic Education in the Brisbane Archdiocese. He has experience as an educator and administrator in state, religious institute and diocesan Catholic schools. He has also worked as an Education Officer within the Queensland Department of Education.
David is a Fellow of both the Australian Council for Educational Leaders and the Australian College of Educators. In June 2012 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to Education in Queensland. He is an active member of the Mt Carmel Parish at Coorparoo.
