We, the Catholic Bishops of Queensland gathered in annual Conference this week, express our sympathy to all those whose lives and futures have been dramatically disrupted by Cyclone Larry.
We are in solidarity with all affected in the North. We urge our Catholic people to support them in prayer and to respond generously in addressing the various needs which are now evident.
A number of avenues are available to channel practical assistance:
People may give to the general public appeal, through any Commonwealth Bank branch, which has the advantage of a wide distribution network.
However, parishes may wish to express collectively their desire to help Cyclone victims, while some individuals may prefer or find it more convenient to give locally:
– The St Vincent de Paul Society is already active in the disaster
area. Donations may be made through Diocesan St Vincent de Paul
